FOOD AGAR
Agar-agar has multiple applications in the food industry: agar-agar has applications in confectionary and bakery as a component of fillings or coatings, confectionery in the preparation of sweets or gum drops, in diary products as a gelling agent in desserts and canned meat products subjected to high temperature processes. This is due to its high resistance to thermal shock. The take-off of its use at the domestic level as another ingredient in the diet due to its recognized reputation as a healthy and versatile product is noteworthy.
BACTERIOLOGICAL AGAR
Bacteriological agar is used for different microbiological applications. It is the basic ingredient in the preparation of diagnostic plate culture media. Its main advantge is the absence of inhibitors that can mask the optimal development of microorganism.
In addition, it has applications in molecular biology. Agar-agar is the base of agarose, which is mainly used in the separation of nucleic acids and proteins by electrophoresis and as a base for resins used in the purification of specific biomolecules by chromatographic separation.
WE HARVEST ALGAE OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY
Agarmex, located in Ensenada, on the coast of Baja California, Mexico, is surrounded by a natural algae reserve. In addition, it has its own harvesting force distributed throughout the key points of the peninsula with extensive knowledge after more than 50 years of experience. In this way, Agarmex selects the best algae in the area, which allows it to develop high-quality products.
The rigorous control required for the production of this type of agar begins with the selection of the raw material harvested and continues throughout the production chain with exhaustive traceability monitoring right up to the final product. All batches produced are analyzed in their main parameters to ensure the characteristics corresponding to the specification, with special emphasis on optimal growth properties together with the absence of inhibitors for bacteriological agars.
